English Language Challenges

Nowadays, English accompanies us practically since the day we are born. Globalization has made its master play, and the big fishes have entered deeply in every society, and I’m particularly talking about the USA.  When we grow up, we notice that we are surrounded by this foreign language (for us), we use regularly words like “shorts” referring to the pants that doesn’t reach further than our knees without noticing. Personally, I was strongly influenced by this language because of my parents; I adapted their taste in music and used to watch series with the original audio in my early childhood, so my ears were very trained and as I grew up, I started to understand most of the things I heard as a child.

In this sense, and I really hope not to sound arrogant, I think that I have a general idea of most of the things we talk in class and I apply them without noticing, but I recognize that the contents we see are very important. This course is very integral and incorporative; it has classes where we are constantly applying what we learn with games or role plays, without mentioning the use of blogs which allow us to express our opinion of something and improve our redaction. My general appreciation of English IV is very positive.

About the things I need to improve about my English, I would definitely say my skills of improvisation. I think is very difficult for me to be in a situation where I have to talk freely about a random topic, because in my school we didn’t do that, we just had to write texts and stuff like that. I plan to improve my improvisation talking with others in English, with people that have a better level than mine.

Outside class, I admit that I don’t use English very much, just to read some texts for necessity, comments on social media, videos of native speakers and, this is embarrassing, but I use to sing songs in English at home, mostly everyday hahah.

  1. It's very good that since you were little you got used to English language, because nowadays is a very important language. Good thing you shared that with your parents :)
